Big House Youth Ministry
We believe in a multi-level approach to ministry. We believe that Bible studies and small groups should be balanced with fun outings and games. The fun outings bring in new visitors and the small groups teach them how to live as a Christian. We believe that programs are important in Christian discipleship but take a back seat to hands-on ministry and discipleship. In other words if it comes to another weekly program or attending basketball games and recitals of the youth, the new program will have to wait. Young people may not remember the sermon you preached but they will not forget that you were there for their graduation and band concert. We believe that developing personal relationships is more important than a larger number of members. Though Jesus ministered to the masses, he primarily spent his time with a small group of Disciples. Most Christians became believers due to a relationship with another Christian.
To this end, We are big supporters of small groups. Small groups allow personal relationships to develop between a small group of same sex peers and two adults. We have found that these groups facilitate more support and discipleship than any other weekly program.
We at Big House Ministries are also big believers in Mission work and trips. Mission trips appeal to the new and mature Christian alike. A mature Christian connects and grows closer with God by being the hands and feet of Christ, and the new Christian or non-believer is encouraged by seeing other Christians live out their faith in practical, tangible ways. We believe that God wants to be known everywhere and that people all over the world can benefit from a personal relationship with Christ.

The purpose of Piney Grove UMC’s Celebrate Recovery ministry is to fellowship and celebrate God's healing power in our lives through the "8 Recovery Principles." By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power. We meet at 6:00 p.m. every Saturday evening. Join us anytime. |

Piney Grove has several ways you can participate in our Music Ministry! At this time, the 8:30 and 11:00 am services each have a choir, and would be happy to have you join. During the holidays, we always have a Christmas Cantata, and there are opportunites for special music during the worship at various times of the year. Chancel Chimes is the handbell group, and they usually perform during the holidays. The Sounds of Joy is the children's choir, and they participate in various worship services and the annual Advent program. |

A dedicated group of ladies meet every Thursday at 1:00 pm to assemble beautiful, creative prayer shawls. These shawls are shared with those who are suffering from a life-threatening illness, the loss of a loved one, or other devastating circumstance. Each shawl is prayed over and comes with a card that shows who requested it for the person in need. There are also three "traveling shawls" which are given to those in the hospital for short stays, and are expected to recuperate. These shawls are signed and returned to the church when they are no longer needed. The traveling shawls have been used by several members of the church, and one of them has been all the way to California and back! If you like to sew and have a heart for helping others, call the church office to find out how to get involved in this wonderful ministry. |
