Camp Piney Sunday School

Lots of new and exciting things are afoot at Camp Piney. All children will still meet their shepherds at the trees every Sunday, but at 9:45 am sharp, all of the children will proceed to room 307 for a time of music, praise and memory verse practice. Then they will divide up into their classes and move on to their scheduled activities.

9:45 & 11:00  am Sunday Mornings

Gather around the campfire, folks; the November story for our children's Sunday School classes is heart-and-soul-warming! Come join us as we study the book of Ruth. Ruth's love and loyalty for her mother-in-law Naomi teaches us valuable lessons about God's love for us and the love we should have for others. Activites will include a group project in which children weave textiles onto a hula hoop!

Adults, if you have not volunteered your time and services (just one month at a time!), please call Donna Flenniken (767-4765) and sign up.

See you at the trees!

Children 5 yrs through 5th grade are really excited about hearing the lesson in a different format each week. Rooms are colorfully decorated and each has its own theme. Children and teachers alike are thrilled with this new way of learning. Bring your little ones over and check it out.

Children are greeted at the "campground gate" by their counselors who accompany them to the part of Camp Piney they will explore that morning. A class will experience one theme in 4 different exciting ways and "camp locations" during the month.

Lessons in Abraham and Sarah (example)
ARTS & CRAFTS Tent - Children paint a life size mural illustrating Gen 15:5-6 "The Lord too Abram outside and said 'Look at the sky and try to count the stars; you will have as many descendants as that'".

IN THE CANTEEN - A child offers you a cup of water, while others are assembling fruit salad and making tortillas. children prepare the kinds of foods which might have been served when Abraham held a feast.

FROM AROUND THE CAMPFIRE - The children are sitting around a simulated campfire playing the "Laughing Game" . When the giggles wind down, the teacher reminds the children how elderly Abraham and Sarah laughed when God told them they would have a baby.

IN THE CAMP THEATRE - Children sort through costumes to make a video journey of Abraham and Sarah. From the popcorn machine wafts the smell of fresh-popped corn to be enjoyed as the children view their homemade video.
